should be shownin novels today Such as an overweight character and an LGBTQ Character This novel is sending out a lot of messages that are really needed to be seen especially by teens the I received review The Universe is Expanding and So Am I follows Virginia and her complicated relationships with boyfriend Froggy, new boy Sebastian and her dysfunctional family It s a rollercoaster of emotions and teen angst as Virginia isn t sure she loves Froggy any or even like him , while at the same time dealing with a major family secret Virginia is an interesting character, although I m reluctant to call her a role model She s confide I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review The Universe is Expanding and So Am I follows Virginia and her complicated relationships with boyfriend Froggy, new boy Sebastian and her dysfunctional family It s a rollercoaster of emotions and teen angst as Virginia isn t sure she loves Froggy any or even like him , while at the same time dealing with a major family secret Virginia is an interesting character, although I m reluctant to call her a role model She s confident in her appearance, despite being repeatedly criticised by her mother and peers, and is passionate and articulate However, at times I also found her irritating and condescending She s not above body shaming or bel...So much better than book 1I enjoyed this book thoroughly I was hesitant to pick this up because the first book wasn t my favourite, but this one was so much better If you read the first book and didn t like it, I recommend you still pick this book up.Carolyn Mackler is one of my oldest writer friends and I love the way she sees the world Her teens feel lived in to me smart, observant, but realistic in terms of their insecurities and limitations I particularly appreciate the candid and non judgmental way she depicts teen sensuality and female desire The Universe is Expanding and So Am I is a gentle, character driven YA novel, but not one that lacks passion, humor, or ideas Much to discuss here in the age of metoo.I lived on the UWS of Ma Carolyn Mackler is one of my oldest writer friends and I love the way she sees the world spoilers but firstly, I am SO HAPPY Carolyn wrote it I feel like this sequel was needed 15 years ago I liked it WAYYYYYthan the first book and I feel like this sequel just finished the whole story and Not all of us just sit around trying to figure out how to get a boy...3.5 Very conflicted about this one I keep thinking of Annie Mills and how irresponsible it is to force these two families together work and this happened to be one of them Upon digging it out of the box, my first thought was oh, what a cute cover I love the pops of color and to me what appears to be an abstract take on the universe.The synopsis sounded like something that would be right up my alley, especially since in the summer time I crave a good contemporary novel Upon further research I realized that this is a sequel to a book Carolyn M Oh my goodness, I loved this book so so sooo much I received a box of ARCs at work and this happened to be one of them Upon digging it out of the box, my first thought was
