decent novelization of a pivotal episode But, by definition, this doesn t bring anything particularly new or memorable to the table.A novelization is a hard thing to write On the one hand, fans of the source material will know what is going to happen from the beginning of the novel, meaning the author has to add just enough new material to keep those readers engaged On the other hand, the novel must also be accessible to people unfamiliar with the original production.Such is Shockwave, a two part episode of Enterprise As a novel, this version of the story includes a minor subplot regarding the goings on at Starfleet a A novelization is a hard thing to write On the one hand, fans of the source material will know what is going to happen from the beginning of the novel...MehA good novelisationI stopped at about the 1 3 mark it s a bit spoon feedy, and I couldn t stay focused I ll come back to it later If only there was a Partially Read shelf, sigh.This is not a particularly well written novelization of a not particularly well thought out or well written episode The Admiral Forrest interludes are okay.Shockwave is a novelization of two Star Trek episodes namely the Season seemed familiar because they joke that she s the size of a child I remember thinking that it didn t make sense to send the claustrophobic linguist when T Pol was about the same size I looked it up they re both around 5 6 , which really isn t that small p Then laughing my ass off when someone made a pointed glace at T Pol s ample boobage Maybe I misremembered and that part was just my mental improvement or they reused the bit.Anyway, the plot is ve...I think that novelisations of TV episodes can either be good or bad However, this was a really good adaptation I really liked how we got to seeof Forrest and his aide, the cadet was so cool to read about, as well as getting to seesnippets of Daniels and Archer Maybe the writing style still wasn t the best, I really liked that I could picture the events, like they were in the episode I m not one to read books that I ve seen on screen first, but this one is definitely a good one, m I think that novelisations of TV episodes can
